Advantages of High Precision Laser Cutting
  • No non-recurring engineering fees
  • Design complexity has very little effect on the cost of tooling
  • Perfect solution for prototype proofing and quick time to market projects
  • Designers can tweak a part or try different designs quickly and at low cost
  • Prototype parts are produced using the same method as production parts
  • Clean and Burr Free Edges
  • Does not change the grain structure or hardness of the metal
  • No Stress to metal
  • Laser Cutting
  • Laser Prototyping
  • Laser Marking (flat material only at this time)
  • Laser Etching/Engraving

Laser Cut Metal Parts
Stencils Unlimited uses state of the art ND:Yag laser systems. We perform weekly checks on our cut quality and spot size to ensure the highest quality precision parts. We have both lead screw and linear motor type motion systems which produce extremely accurate table movements.

We are capable of holding +/- .0005" tolerance for most metal parts. Our CAD specialists are capable of working from your data files or designing the necessary data from a hand sketch.

Laser Cut Plastic Parts
Stencils Unlimited uses state of the art UV Diode Pumped laser systems. Our lasers are equipped with a galvanometer style directed laser beam for high speed motion in up to a 2" precision parts without moving the substrate table.

We are capable of holding +/- .0005" tolerance for most plastic parts. We will meet your increasing design requirements of ultra precision plastic parts by using this UV laser.

Flex Circuits
There are many issues to be considered when manufacturing state of the art products. Complexity of patterns is increasing and tighter tolerances are being demanded. We have the best laser systems available for these processes. With Fiducial recognition for locational accuracy and 355Nm Wavelength for the cleanest debris free available.

Thickness - 0.001" - 0.030"

MATERIALS
Stainless Steel, 25-500 um (0.001" - 0.030")
Laser cut parts can be made from various metals (ie: Stainless Steel, Inconel, Brass, Molybdenum, nickel, and tool steel), but not all materials cut equally well. for example copper and aluminum are more difficult to cut limiting their thickness.

Other metals
In some instances alternate materials are desired, e.g. titanium or precious metals. For precision parts many different metals can be used depending on the purpose for which the components are designed. We can provide the material or we can use your material.

Kapton
For various precision parts thin Kapton is chosen in forms such as coverlay, polyimide sheet, cirlex, or adhesives because of its special thermal properties. Extremely small features down to .002" can be cut into this material with no charring.

ESD plastic material
Inspection overlays can either be cut by laser or milled using a small precision milling machine. For this application typically it is necessary to use materials that do not become electro statically charged. The same materials can be used to produce various components

Other plastics (non-metals, thickness depends on material qualities and behavior)
The thickness of most materials is limited by the qualities of the material with respect to the frequency the laser pulses at. Some typical materials that we are capable of cutting are: Alumina (as fired), Beryllium oxide, Green Ceramic, aluminum Nitride, ferrite, and Acrylics.
