Thickness - 0.001" - 0.030" MATERIALS Stainless Steel, 25-500 um (0.001" - 0.030") Laser cut parts can be made from various metals (ie: Stainless Steel, Inconel, Brass, Molybdenum, nickel, and tool steel), but not all materials cut equally well. for example copper and aluminum are more difficult to cut limiting their thickness. Other metals In some instances alternate materials are desired, e.g. titanium or precious metals. For precision parts many different metals can be used depending on the purpose for which the components are designed. We can provide the material or we can use your material. Kapton For various precision parts thin Kapton is chosen in forms such as coverlay, polyimide sheet, cirlex, or adhesives because of its special thermal properties. Extremely small features down to .002" can be cut into this material with no charring. ESD plastic material Inspection overlays can either be cut by laser or milled using a small precision milling machine. For this application typically it is necessary to use materials that do not become electro statically charged. The same materials can be used to produce various components Other plastics (non-metals, thickness depends on material qualities and behavior) The thickness of most materials is limited by the qualities of the material with respect to the frequency the laser pulses at. Some typical materials that we are capable of cutting are: Alumina (as fired), Beryllium oxide, Green Ceramic, aluminum Nitride, ferrite, and Acrylics. |
